HAPPY NEW YEAR AND THANK YOU FOR THIS OLD YEAR.

As we celebrate the end of 2012 and the beginning of the… one after… that (math is not my strong suit) I would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket to a show, downloaded a podcast or purchased an album that I created this year. I am grateful to have nice fans and lucky that anyone pays attention to anything I do at all.

Here is a video from my final Largo show of 2012, and the last one, overall, for a while. I will be sharing more stuff like this with you from the considerable Paul F. Tompkins Show video archive as 2013 (now I get it; it’s like a series of numbers) unfolds. So go on and subscribe to my channel, should it please you.

On to the future. We’ll take a cup of kindness yet!

Credits: Eban Schletter (arrangement & piano), Peter Adams (keyboards), Todd Spahr (guitar), Scott Rodgers (drums), Brandon McCulloch (bass), James Eason (tenor sax), Gabriel Feenberg (trombone), David Ralicke (baritone sax), Jordan Katz (trumpet), Jamie Adams (trumpet), Kathryn Burns & Aubrey Leigh (dancers)

    Camera: Nick Reczynski
    Special thanks: Cash Hartzell

Exactly the same, thought Clarissa; the same queer look; the same check suit; a little out of the straight his face is, a little thinner, dryer, perhaps, but he looks awfully well, and just the same.

Cats spouting Mrs. Dalloway quotes. This is a long time coming.

George Carlin Actually Likes People: It’s Bad For Ya

“You wouldn’t know it, because of some of the things I’ve said over the years… but I like people.”

It’s Bad for Ya was Carlin’s twentieth and final album, and fourteenth and final HBO stand-up comedy special. He died 4 months after this was filmed and was awarded a posthumous Grammy.

Jump to 2:14 for what we can only describe as the perfect “boring old man laugh.”

  15. I knew that women had become more educated. I knew they were steadily earning more money. I knew they had gained a lot of power of late, and sometimes even more money and power than the men around them. But I did not realize they had become so powerful that they could mess with the men’s DNA. How did I miss that? How has J.J. Abrams not made a movie about it?

Unfortunately, Venker is somewhat enigmatic about how to reverse this problem, beyond a few vague clues. Women, she says, “have the power to turn everything around” (Duh, of course, we have ALL the power). “All they have to do is surrender to their nature – their femininity – and let men surrender to theirs.” Surrender to my femininity. Surrender to my femininity. I get the general idea but what does it mean, like, in practice? Not wear pants so much? Let my hair grow. Ask my boss to pay me a little less? Open to ideas.
